From the photographs we strongly believe your pot is made by Taylor Tunnicliffe & co. of Hanley in Staffs. earthenwares and porcelain were made from 1868 with 'usefulwares' only made from 1898. this mark was used between these dates with the crown above only from 1875 to 1898 .so this must have been made right on the later date as its classed as 'useful ware'. So 1898. Its possible use, with its lid that seals tightly, was as a tobacco jar. Tobacco needed to be kept slighlty moist and the air dried it out so jars with well fitting lids were fairly widely produced. AN odd question, but have you sniffed inside the jar? a feint odour may linger to give you a clue to use?

Leanne xLeannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09573431221299174647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3418492395096731711.post-67366343538196184892008-02-20T16:13:00.000+00:002008-02-20T16:13:00.000+00:00miss*r i shall be making sure we go together to do...miss*r i shall be making sure we go together to dorset!

xoxoxolaoi gaul~williamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13461210264595425112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3418492395096731711.post-89646853990618472452008-02-20T06:52:00.000+00:002008-02-20T06:52:00.000+00:00you know.. putting it back into its box ready for ...you know.. putting it back into its box ready for its new home is perfect.... it shows the Universe that you are expecting to move... that you are going to move... and those thoughts will happen... manifesting dear Lee!!
although... leaving Dorset before I get there -tuttut.. xoxo :)Miss Robynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15144002124919728056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3418492395096731711.post-43284675714634954422008-02-19T16:13:00.000+00:002008-02-19T16:13:00.000+00:00thank you for that leanne! i have been searching t...thank you for that leanne! i have been searching the net but discovered nothing!laoi gaul~williamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13461210264595425112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3418492395096731711.post-57364094173794959792008-02-19T14:15:00.000+00:002008-02-19T14:15:00.000+00:00thats interesting Lee!
