The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

well...where to begin?

what a crazy few weeks we have had.

we went off to our summer camp near bexhill-on-sea, and had a great week meeting up with our friends and even having a 'christmas party' on the friday~dont ask!

then it was back to do more work on our little 'roundhouse'/hobbit-hole.
i was glad to find the bird nuts i put out had all gone, so finally the birds are visiting and yesterday we had a young robin in the fence shouting loudly~and what grass there is has shot up so quickly in the past week.

we have decided that as there is no damp in the second bedroom we can actually decorate in there, and as i need the space for my studies i really wanted it sorted quickly.
so today swampy is making me some bespoke bookcases so i can unpack our 10 boxes of books!!!
then we can paint and hopefully next week put in flooring.

oh it seems like there is so much to do and i am one of those people who like things done 'yesterday'! but still, i keep reminding myself that this is our 'forever' home and we have plenty of time.

*i have found a few nice vintage bits and pieces on my travels this past two weeks*

i picked up this old blanket in lymington along with this brass trivet advertising tea... 'the cup of peace & plenty that cheers'~does'nt that sound so jolly!

the enamel kitchen tidy is Swedish and i found it in a 'collectable junk' shop in Rye...turned out it is owned and run by one of the presenters on the 'Antiques Roadshow'!

this table is about 70 years old and is a perfect fit between our sofa and an armchair!

and finally my new mug~as soon as i saw this it reminded me of the work of william morris and i have always love the arts and crafts movement, so i just had to have it.

The trivet, blanket and table came to the grand sum of £4! thats the kind of shopping i love!

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
