The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

~dowsing avebury & rollrights~

Rose asked about dowsing on my last post so i thought i would post here a little of my dowsing experiences.

in the past i started with pendulum dowsing-i didn't go out and buy one of those fancy-schmancy crystal pendulums, i just added a length of hemp string to a simple necklace i had bought in glastonbury many years ago...a clear quartz point set in a small silver mount.
it felt right because i had been wearing it as a necklace and would have absorbed my energies.

i just make simple questions after ascertaining the correct 'yes, 'no' responses from my pendulum-with me a yes is a clockwise circle while no a back and forth line so it is very obvious.

a few years ago my good friend, carp the welsh wizard, gave me a set of angled metal rods he had made when we met up in avebury-what i like about them is that a brass tube is fitted over the hand holds so it is impossible to make the rods move deliberately without making very obvious movements with your hands and arms.

we spent ages dowsing various sites at avebury including the avenue.
he showed me how each stone has different bands of energy going from top to bottom.
as a pair we positioned ourselves at the base of a stone, one either side, holding our rods parallel and facing forwards. we then very slowly, saying nothing to each other, raised up the length of the stones and the rods would mirror each other, as we passed each band of energy.
for example they would either swing in towards the stone for a few inches, then return to their previous position, then swing in or out at another band.

swampy is not a pagan in the way that i am and was very unsure about dowsing as a whole...actually he didn't believe it. so when he saw what was happening he had a change of heart and when he actually had a go he accepted that there is indeed 'something' in dowsing.

i dowsed the rollrights/kings men friday night and saturday morning and it was very interesting.

i started outside of the stones and walked direct to the centre-as i reached the stones my rods crossed, then opened and faced opposing sides-one to the left and one to the right.
walking out they again crossed...

i found that the energy surrounding the stone outside of the circle is wider than inside and that there is a thread of energy radiating out from the kings men circle to the whispering knights the remains of an early/middle neolithic portal dolmen lying a short distance from the circle...

i have dowsed our garden quite a lot-we have it divided in three different sections and each one hold spiral energies, which in fact did not exit when we moved in.
i plan on dowsing again because a few months ago i finally planted our elder-a tree with strong associations with the goddess and protection-in the centre of our garden and am interested to see if and how the energies have changed.

also our house sits bang in between two major ley lines that start at two points across the solent on the isle of wight and converge at the beckhampton longstone 'adam'-which makes me wonder if the energy was always there but needed 'work' to bring the energies out?

~nomads are home~

we are back from our travels...

despite the blue moon being hidden by cloud we had a wonderful night at the rollrights/kings men-we had a fire and plenty of food, drink and laughter.
three of us with campers bedded down in the layby while others snuggled into their little pop-up tents for a few hours sleep.

in the morning i had the area to myself for a while so did some dowsing with my rods and put my 'travelling' alter in the centre of the stones so it could absorb some energy.

this is thought to be the entrance to the circle, facing a single tall stone...

even the lichen on the stones is protected as some of it is hundreds of years old...

the following day we all made our way towards different destinations-swampy and i to the nearby campsite we had stayed the previous weekend, our friend dandelion moon to a neighbouring site and later in the day willow joined us...that night we were treated to clear skies...

packing up the next day we found the most teeny snail (click on the picture!)...

on the sunday swampy and i made our way to the foot of the malvern hills for busfest-where we caught up with our friends from far and wide-particularly our friends from scotland, some of who we only see once a year and our friends from germany-lars, jutta and roland-and this year lars brought his son robin, only a teenager but a wise soul.

we had our own little compound we named the 'happy camp'...

and were entertained by anthony who has a multitude of talents including fire juggling...

and i finally bought myself a set of ribbon poi made by the pyropixies...photos to follow!

*~*~*~*

yesterday we went to the STArescue and introduced mismi to a couple of ferrets needing homes-the first, a big poley boy named sooty who terrified poor mismi-not in a nasty way, its just because mismi has been a lone ferret for so long he is not used to being with his own kind-he was then introduced to a 12 week poley mitt girl...

enlarge and look closely and you will see Inca!

mismi is taking a bit of time to get used to having such a baby around-especially as they play rough and have boundless energy!
last night they had to sleep apart but this morning after two hours running around we put them in the cage together again but with an extra bed...swampy went out to check them and it seems mismi is in the 'spare bed' while inca has the bedroom!

well time for a mug of tea and i will endeavour to visit you all over the next few days!

~tardy, so very tardy!~

well here i am again with my tardy of late blog.

i really must do better-i have just spent an hour catching up with some blogs, i will try to get round to more the next few days.

we have a busy few days coming up as we have the

 love convoy and camp

near the Rollrights at the weekend...

followed by a

blue moon gathering

on friday at the Rollright stones

just our group of stonewylder's, for we have special permission to have the area just for us, for the whole night!
there are two lay-by's on the land by the stones so there will be a few of us with campers set up and pop up tents are allowed.
we are all going to try to stay up until dawn so i am baking some goodies and making sure we have plenty of milk to make hot chocolate.

we will camp the saturday night at a site near the Rollrights then head off to the Malverns for
 Busfest

so we have been busy sorting out food, getting blankets washed, buying the little bits and pieces we need-so on friday i shall spend the day stocking the camper, putting in the bedding and choosing my books for the weekend (one book is never enough!)

and of course this year my beautiful Delta Blue will be travelling with us-Calv has kindly let me borrow his padded banjo bag while i am away, until i get get my own hard case.

~*~*~*~

on our way home we are stopping off at a ferret rescue to introduce mismi to other ferrets-as he has been a lone ferret since he left his litter mates and mum we are not sure how he will take to living with other ferrets so before we commit to taking another on it is important to make sure.
we are hoping that he does take to other ferrets and that we will be able to bring home a companion for him.

~*~*~*~

well time is ticking on tonight so i must get young mismi out for his evening playtime then get some dinner on the go.

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
