The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

*~spinning~*

my mind is like a waterfall right now~thoughts and ideas that have been building up for weeks are rushing out of me, falling into a cold, brown pool of water.
thoughts and ideas that have been germinating in my mind like seeds while i have been poorly are spinning~spinning.

the mind is strong but the body is still week~the moon, still not quite full, will be rising over my garden very soon~my beautiful, fledgling sacred garden and so i shall wrap up warm~the slight chill of the summer evening is still making me cough~and sit a while, listening to the last birdsong of the day and watch as the moon once again rises beyond the rambling rose.

i really hope that later this week i can get out and about and start on my garden again

Ah....but then life goes in circles/cycles - as you know yourself. Those times of enforced "quiet" are often those during which inspiration arises/what has been learnt so far is integrated. "Quiet" times can be very frustrating sometimes - but I have learnt to see the usefulness of them. I sometimes think my life goes cycling round through "boom to bust" and back again in terms of how much is going on outwardly. But - the outward world isnt the only place for action.

yes! i read your comment and thought how my enforced contemplation came just after the solstice, our turn in the year when we all start to look inwards...

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
