The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

the wheel turns again and we have the return of the light

the star child has returned and the oak king once again reigns until the summer solstice.

right now it doesn't feel like the light will return, i can almost imagine how our ancestors would have felt at this time~wondering if the light and warmth really would return.

its a grey, blustery day here in this ancient forest and its been that way for a week.

we had our ritual with the gorsedd cor gawr at stonehenge the week before 'christmas' and what a wet and wild ritual it was-but somehow it felt right for the time. a mid-winter ritual should be dark and wild.
i was wrapped up warm in my new cloak (yes i now have two cloaks~a heavy green boiled wool one and a brown one of microfleece with lovely dangly bits).

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
