thursday 26th july...the new forest show...the tour
Merry Meet )o(
just had two days camping in pippin, we went over to the new forest to go to the new forest show,an annual agricultural show that I have been going to since the early 1970's...when it was smaller and considerably cheaper. this year we had to wear wellies as the ground was so muddy and driving onto the site we nearly had to be towed to the car park as we were getting stuck in the mud that had been churned up by the cars in front.but we were lucky as many of the big agricultural shows here in dorset, devon and cornwall have been cancelled.
had a really nice surprise there, meeting up with a good friend...my best friend in my late teens. we caught up briefly and have now exchanged an e-mail...I'm hoping it means getting in touch with my other friends from the same time.
the highlight for me and swampy was the wild flower meadow and vegetable garden that had been grown on site by a garden center. we splashed out on two packs of wild flower seeds and two seed trays...and some really nice photos for inspiration.
as always it was lovely to sleep in pippin, even if it was for only two nights...but on the way home our dodgy wheel bearing was making some odd noises...
a few minutes after arriving back home we had a torrential downpour of rain, so much so that swampy had to get the wellies back on, hoist up a drain cover and sweep the water from our back yard...because it is about three feet below ground level and the water runs off the roof of the lean-to's and workshop it floods easily and comes close to our kitchen door. so far we have not had a flooded kitchen...fingers crossed.
however right now there is lots of blue sky to be seen out the front of the cottage...for how long though?
missed two days of the tour and more news of people being dropped...its hard to think now about it all and what it will do to the tour. hoping that others will remember what lance armstrong achieved without the help of chemicals.
