The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

monday 20th august...autumn?

merry meet )o(
a decidedly chilly, grey day here in dorset and i agree with somerset seasons, that it is like autumn~the windows that were open have been closed and swampy is out chopping wood to light the rayburn earlier than usual.
i have just made a small wild strawberry harvest, just enough to taste and know they are better than supermarket ones!the same with my peas at the weekend~again not many but the taste is lovely. my apples are also doing so well and we are both waiting for our first harvest.
i spoke with my dad on the phone yesterday, the floods have gone down (he lives between tewkesbury and evesham so for a while was living on a small island) and he has had a huge amount from his patch~potatoes, marrow, corn, garlic, peas and beans~you name it i think he has had it.
we have less than two weeks to go until we go to the Citroen car club event at stratford, as part of the special H van display and then onto Vanfest. so we shall be spending some of that time getting pippin ready;stocking the cupboards, making sure bedding is in,washing and packing clothes etc.
i cannot describe the excitement i feel at going away in pippin. my biggest joy in camping is getting tucked up in bed at night under the blankets, with a book, a mug of hot milk and my wind-up radio on~or if it is raining just laying and listening to the rain;or putting my deckchair in a really dark area and watching the moon and stars. one of the best places is a site we found just outside of swanage some years ago and when you look out the window in the morning all you can see is the sweep of swanage bay and across to the isle of wight...on a clear summers morning the most amazing site.

i have been following the climate change protests on the news and online and cannot understand why on earth george bush is STILL refusing to commit to reduction in emissions...obviously something to do with putting wealth before the future of our planet.

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
