The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

Seitan and tvp sickness

merry meet )o(

i have spent a very lazy but very productive morning researching how to make my own seitan~also very enjoyable because there are a lot of very interesting blogs out there.
for those of you who have not heard of it, and i didn't until a month or two ago,it is at its simplest high gluten flour or whole wheat flour mixed with whatever flavouring you wish ie; yeast flakes, seaweed, spices, whatever;then mixed with water (the more long winded version means lots of kneading and rinsing to get rid of the starch) then boiling in a broth or baking it. it is then stored in fridge or frozen to be used when ever. anyway its is shopping day tomorrow so all being well i shall make my first batch and maybe turn it into a sweet and sour.
this is because i am getting really tired of store bought veggie sausage, quorn and especially tvp soya chunks...in fact the thought of making another stir fry with tvp is making me feel quite physically sick. not a nice feeling, so i think the quarter pack of tvp chunks in our larder may well fester there for some time!
i went to Hong Kong when i was 21 with my dad and stayed with his friend David, who being a local knew all the good places to go and eat.one day he took us to a Buddhist monastery with open sided dining room for visitors and there i had the most amazing dishes that i can only assume was actually seitan. so i am hoping to almost replicate these dishes. i shall let you know how it went in a future posting.

changing the subject i threw caution to the wind last night and ordered the two Stonewylde books~Magus of Stonewylde and Moondance of Stonewylde~from Kit Berry's website. i have only a few pages left on the final Boudica book and need something new to read while we are off camping. after reading the write up on the books and also Kits own take on them i felt quite weird to be honest~such a strong feeling of having to read them, i suppose because they are so linked to my own personal beliefs and to be honest that kind of thing is not really catered for in fiction, so to have two books is really exciting~well for me anyway!
i am so looking forward to getting away in Pippin. it seems that i can only go for so long in a proper house then get such itchy feet to be away.

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
