Ralph Waldo Emerson
merry meet
i find i am being drawn out of the cottage and up into the fields and being given the strength to ignore the aches and pains for that moment of the day.
today we had a heavy frost and on waking, the woods seen from the front of the cottage were hidden in a pink mist, as the sun was clearing the higher hills to the east and the tops of the higher hills rose out from the mist looking like islands rising up into the sky.
that sight settled my soul for the day and for my walk i was joined by not only my usual crows and deer, some of which were in the same field; but also, rabbits and a fox. the fox was in the next field over and stayed until it noticed cody and then took off for the hedge.
as i climbed the hill i looked back and saw our village was still hidden in the mist and a few chimneys were already putting woodsmoke into the air.
i always feel so grateful to be living where i do, to know that all i have to do is step out of my gate and i am surrounded by trees and fields and hedgerow and all the folk, seen and unseen who inhabit this land.
i feel grateful that here i can follow the wheel of the year and honour the seen and unseen without having to try to see beyond concrete and steel and the noise of mankind.
i am truly blessed and send these bright blessing to you all )o(

I couldve written your post Lee! I think this landscape we live in, so close geographically, is calling to us both!
Leanne, I think you are right :)

is that early for a frost? Our frosts here don't occur until midwinter..
and I love that we can tune into our seasons... here I am tuning into early morning sunrises with birds calling and flying across the valley.
