The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

merry meet

merry meet

it is pannage season and in the New Forest the pigs have been let out to feast...this one made its way down from the direction of my mum's village and was at the bottom of her road. the forest is looking fantastic now...crossing the high heathland the bracken has turned copper and in my mums garden the trees are dropping their leaves and all that you can smell is damp earth and wet leaves.

we drove home at sunset and as we started to climb the hill to Bulbarrow i felt glad to be almost home in our valley...the gap between the New Forest and the few miles before we get to Bulbarrow are not particularly built up but we have to do a few miles on a duel carriageway, a nightmare of too fast cars and rush.
the longer i live here in our little valley the more i find, what i call 'the real world' difficult and uncomfortable. i was watching the cars rush by us, the people sealed inside their modern, all-mod-cons vehicles and felt so sorry for them. they seem to rush and hurry and take no notice of what is around them and i wonder if their whole lives are like that? do they ever stop to look at the sky or trees,or watch the birds and listen to the sounds at sunset?
how lucky are we who follow the wheel of the year and are so in tune with our Earth.

so,to arrive to the remoteness just beyond Blandford Forum was lovely.
leaving the houses and traffic behind i rode with my head out of the window to breath in the scents of the land around me, enjoying the cold air...feeling as if i were being brought back to my reality. at the top of Bulbarrow the Blackmore Vale was slowing losing light and through the slight haze all that could be seen were the few lights of cottages and many spirals of smoke coming up from the chimneys and the lower we went into our valley the smell was of wood smoke mixed with the earth and leaves.

this morning just after sunrise the smell of wood smoke drifted through the open window as people lit their fires and stoked their Rayburns and Agas for the day.

and now we are going into Dorchester for our shopping which will give me some good miles there and back to lean out of the window as we drive through the lanes at the bottom of what used to be several ancient settlements, breathing in our clear country air.
almost as if i am taking in the Earths strength to get me through visiting the town, then later i shall meditate and give thanks to her for helping me this day.

I too long for the peace and tranquility and smells of the countryside, at the moment all I can hear are dirty big lorry's ,cars and buses passing our house along with the sirens that frighten you half to death when traffic won't get out of the way .Then we have th idiots out the back letting fireworks off in the middle of the day nearly giving the animals a heart attack.will someone on the housing association please take me away from all this madnessand give us a house on the edge of town !!!!.Take care love Kathyann

The area where you live sounds idyllic, like you I often wonder whether people see all the beauty around them as they roar down country roads. If more people looked at the changing skies and saw the beauty of the trees and hedgerows through the seasons there might be a lot less stress around. Even incities there are parks and gardens and the countryside is within easy reach of pretty much everyone these days. My daughter has just moved to Hathersage to work and is getting quite lyrical about the lovely drive she has each morning, she says it really sets her up for the day.

it is always good to take energy from Earth... I love to put my hands directly onto the soil/rock/ground... and just let the energy come up through my hands..
as much as I say that I wish sometimes I were like the 'gorgeous busy people' I really would hate not to be in tune with our Earth.. xoxo

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
