The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

Hopi Prophecy

history today!

Dia dhuit
in my need to get my work on political philosophy finished i have been neglecting my blog.
i have also been neglecting myself.
i have been feeling dull and uninspired and i think the endless days of wind and rain are contributing to the feeling...it seems we just have endless days of grey skies and dampness.
i mentioned to a very dear person last night how i long for the sight of the sun and moon.
my daily studies, general chores and constant battles with a wet, muddy dog...
i just cant seem to separate my time, all my activities roll into one long activity...so why am i not strong enough to keep to a timetable?
any suggestions anyone?!
i am also preoccupied with the thought of moving.
i have been on the housing list to go back to live in the new forest and be closer to my family...not an easy task because houses very rarely come up in the village, therefore we just have to wait until one comes up and then hope against hope that we get selected from the 60+ applicants...what an impossible task! of course the other option is to buy, unfortunately due to people buying up hoses for holiday homes house prices are very high and we would need to be lottery winners to buy one!
of course this would mean leaving my beloved dorset.
if i was being practical and drew up a list of pro's and con's then moving back to the forest comes out on top in many ways and of course barring any extreamly bad behaviour on my part (not likely!) then it will be a home for life...but to lose my wonderful seclusion...
i have discovered a wealth of ancient and sacred sites all within 6 miles of the village however...
habitation in the village has been dated to 4,000 years ago. in 1079 the area was claimed as william the conquerors hunting forest and was mentioned in the domesday book as being an area of four saxon manors. its present name derives from the Saxon Broceste and there is no mention of it after 1348...a time when the black death was claiming thousands of lives...is it possible the village suffered badly during this time?
the village itself lies within the heritage part of the new forest (which is now a national park) and the area is europes largest surviving ancient, pasture woodland.
so it is a special place indeed and a lovely place to live.
so this year we could well be moving, possibly sooner rather than later, because i have been told that a bungalow may become available in the next few weeks. whether we actually get it is another matter.
but if you could send me some positive vibes i would be so grateful!
of course it gives me an excuse to think about buying 'new' things for the new home!
i have already splashed out on a second hand (i love old things...things with their own history, not mass produced new things) cast iron bed frame, although we actually needed a new bed anyway. but i just love that feeling of moving into a new home, with all the promises of a new start and a new life and having 'new' things to put in the home.
so we shall just have to wait and see what happens now, i keep you all posted!

Oh Lee,I think we must all be feeling the same Leanne at sommerset seasons is just the same!! we three are all in the same boat,in that we are all hoping to move this year. Although it will be a wrench for you and Leanne as you both live in beautiful surroundings and I know you pay the price by being isolated especially if you don't drive, or are far away from family!Lee I really hope and pray you get the bungalow, like you say new beginning for us all,we too have been collecting new /old things for our"new home"and I've made a start on the rug with all the wool I got from the scrapstore,,think i might manage to get a small one for the front door done on hession sacking, and another from an old thomas the tank engine canvas i made for Robert when he was 3,I new it would come in handy again, now thats what I call recycling!I think we could all do with a bit of pampering, its a shame we couldn't all get together for a girlie night and a good old natter!I'm off to catch up on some house work and think I'll have look in at the charity store this afternoon, see what I can find!love to you all from Kathyann and the girls

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
