i presently have a bowl of henna keeping warm and brewing on the top of the rayburn ready to let swampy loose on me and my roots~its one of my own mixes; henna, lemon juice, a small, 2 bag, cup of chamomile tea and a good few spoons of paprika.
i am spending a little time each day writing up my own 'book' of natural products~shampo's, conditioners, facial scrubs etc etc. i was recently on the Susun Weed forum and in one of the posts on one of the 'no shampoo' posts someone commented that they are getting 'crustier' as they get older.
i think thats how i have become. i have always been very...whats the word...'unconventional' and i guess that has intensified with age and the term 'crusty' is the perfect one.
the thought of the chemicals put in everything, even our food is horrifying.
so i try to do everything i can to minimise this. all of my shampoo, deodorant, soap, toothpaste etc etc are from two really good stores in dorchester~Down To Earth (where we can also get most of our Ecover bottles filled up) and Naturalife.
i use honey as a great cleanser~though have some new ideas to try out.
~later~
well the new henna mix worked a treat and it is the perfect color, although i need to buy some nice smelling essential oil to take away the swamp~mud smell!
i also covered my hair in coconut oil and sat with my head wrapped in a towel for half an hour and that has made my generally wild, curly and hard to handle hair a bit tamer!
there is an interesting thread or two on Susun Weed about not using shampoo at all, i have to say i am half way there in i only wash my own hair once a week in an really nice organic seaweed shampoo which is really nice, but i think next week i will try a home mix.
well Monty Don is checking out gardens in India so time for me to go!

Lee I love the sound of your henna treatment,I'm feeling like doing something quite different with my hair ,I am so fed up with it at the moment.Beth wants me to go shorter and spike it up a bit with red streaks in it!What do you reckon!,it will certainly give a few people a shock, might be worth it just for that, with my luck it would probably go green lol

Go for it Kathy! its amazing how with me just a re-fresh on my natural color makes me feel better!
(i think it only goes green if the henna is put over chemical dyes!)

ps I might just get brave and do it!!!I'll let you know!
I am the same.. I go to our local co-op to buy as much as i can.. it is all organic.. I do wash my hair every 3rd day though.. it sounds to me that all that gathering you are doing of your 'green' notes, could be the beginning of your own Book of Shadows... I have some interesting bits on digestion and immune system that I have found in the past few days... i am going to add them to my BoS xo
