with the blessings of the Druids, who held a ceremony prior to the excavation, archaeologists have started a new, less destructive dig than the one in the 1960's.
they want to try to date the double bluestone circle, the first stone structure built there.
the bluestones there at the moment are not the originals~luckily they are only putting in a small trench in the hope of finding fragments of the original bluestones to date them.
of course i have always loved stonehenge~if thats not obvious to all my regular readers!
but since the enclosing of the stones i have not been back, even though i have never lived more than an hours drive away~in all my visits i have been able to touch the stones and experience the vibrations there, i really dont think i could go there and have the separation of the modern world intruding.
the nine stone a prehistoric stone circle, constructed about 4,000 years ago, which are nearby, just the other side of dorchester, they are considerably less imposing but none the less full of earth energy and even better surrounded by trees and a good place to visit

I saw on the news last night about the dig at Stonehenge, I've only been there once and it was after all the fencing was put up. I'm not very impressed by what the NT have done there, it's obviously regarded as 'an historic monument' and there's little respect for it as a spiritual place. They seem to be heading in the same direction with Avebury too sadly.
