inspired by a post over at sacred suzies blog swampy and i will be watching
my main reason for wanting to see this is for the role played by maggie gyllenhaal.
i love films where there are characters who are individuals~different if you will.
i suppose this reflects well in myself~i pull against non-conformity, always have and i suppose i now always will. but then some of this is the way i was brought up.
i become frustrated in not finding books and films that have strong, individual characters~by individual i need to add 'alternative' to that.
this is also why i love the magazine bust ~this is something i had a bit of a rant about in a post sometime back~i have a dreadful aversion to the 'women's' magazines that are produced for the market these days~the dictatorial fascism that tells us (or tries to tell us) how to dress, look, act and behave and hook a man and if you dare to stray from this path then dont expect a happy life.
goddess i dont see how women still get pulled into this mind set.
what makes me angry is how even now people are judged on their looks by some members of our society and it makes me love and appreciate those who can see past the outside and see the people inside~so many times i have people look at me as if i have two heads and i can only assume this is because of the me they see on the 'outside'~okay, so i am far from conventional looking, put me in a line up with, say ten other shoppers in dorchester and i will be the one selected for questioning!~but in my life i can think of a few people who came into the realm of truly being able to see beyond the outside~one couple are in their early seventies who come to most of the big camps we go to every year in their old vw camper, oh they are lovely and we have such wonderful chats with them and they take me as they see me but don't judge; there is another couple, again at the camps, again older than i am but with the same attitude.
we need more acceptance and less judging~think how harmonious our world would be!

A clever little film that. I too loved her character.
Everything is about conforming these days...difference just doesn't seem to be tolerated.
Well their loss, they are missing out on meeting a lot of loving and interesting people.Real people.
Take care,
Alison x
Well said SD. I love the non conformists of this world. The camps you attend sound great, are they all pagan camps or camper van ones? Hubby and I haven;t had a holiday in 5 years and I keep saying we should get an old camper so we can get away. We've talked about building one from an old landrover ambulance.
oh alison we just finished watching the film~maggie was a fantastic character, giving her cakes to the old character always in the coffee shop :)
had a tear in my eye at the end.
pixiedust the camps we go to are either citroen/2cv/h van camps~t2oc (type 2 owners club~we used to own an old vw and swampy is the camping coordinator of the club) and vanfest (big vw show we volunteer at)
a landrover ambulance would work~i met a guy who converted one to a camper! if you ever get a camper or want advice please feel free to contact swampy (does valuations for the t2oc, welder, sprayer, mechanic etc!)man for all seasons!
