The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

~contradictory gardening~

swampy and i were out the garden earlier half lifting the huge concrete slab that goes over a storm drain~we may have to have our back yard dug up to have the drains looked at~eek.

while in the garden we were discussing planting and making a small seating area in the nook beside our porch.
as usual swampy was talking of weeding and horrors of horrors wondering how to make my little hawthorn grow straighter~more ordered. it pained me to have to even discuss that it was growing as nature intended and that under no circumstance he was to touch it!

the conversation ended with me saying that if we ever have our small holding then he would have to have his own garden~for some reason he loves an ordered garden with straight, sharp edges and no 'weeds'.

i on the other hand look at everything for its edible/healing gifts and natural beauty~which is as it should be

gawd, I would keep him out of the garden for sure! I cringe when Joe wants to do anything - he gets carried away. Once he sprayed poison all over my newly sprung bulbs !! so all I 'allow' him to do in my garden is dig holes or prune under strict supervision :)

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
