The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

*its funny how you can detect the shift in seasons just by the smell*

while away camping i stood one morning when the malvern hills were half hidden in the mists and could smell the autumn, waiting just around the corner~there was a chill in the air that i hadn't felt since last january/february and it was so welcome.

i am a child of imbolc, born at the begining of february a time when we enjoy the last of winter before the start of spring~although its good to feel the sun i love those long weeks from the autumn equinox through to the spring equinox.

~*the smell of damp earth, the colors of the leaves before they fall, bonfires, waking to sharp frosts that highlight cobwebs and bare branches, going for cold walks and coming home to a welcome hot chocolate or even, closer to yule a hot mead*~

O Autumn, laden with fruit, and stained

With the blood of the grape, pass not,but sit

Beneath my shady roof, there thou may'st rest,

And tune thy jolly voice to my fresh pipe;

And all the daughters of the year shall dance,

Sing now the lusty song of fruits and flowers.

William Blake

*i am finally feeling more settled and less spiritually disconnected*
our little hobbit hole is becoming more and more like our home with each passing day and if i needed a reminder of all i hold close then this discovery today provides a good reminder...

it is really heavy solid brass and will look great when we have painted our front door~as many of you know i have a strong link with the green man so this felt like a message for me

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
