The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

Hopi Prophecy

~wild day~

what a day we had here in the new forest yesterday! it had started to rain the afternoon before and by yesterday morning the wind was really howling~sitting at my desk i could see clouds of different shades of grey rushing across the sky and a curtain of leaves, mostly oak from the huge old oak in a neighbours garden, falling across the window and the crows and jackdaws flapping in the sky like dark rags.
i did some of my studies in the morning and as i was feeling really unwell~my m.e had been brewing up for a few days from just managable to totally aching and exhausted~ i decided to spend part of the afternoon watching a doris day film~i love doris day and have always wanted to be her in those fantastic old films!
so i had my comfy pyjama bottoms on and a warm snuggly top and one of my books so i could do some of my reading during the breaks and wouldnt you know it just as the credits were about to roll we have a power cut...
...that lasted for over three hours!
swampy braved the rain to pop into the village and the shops were shut as the power was out there too and my mum the other end of the village had no power either so it was a village wide one.

luckily we could still boil a kettle but had no heat either so it was getting really chilly by the time it all came back on~so we have resolved to sort ourselves out with an alternative heat source to our main heat in case we ever have another power cut when its so chilly.

today however the wind has died down and the skies are blue with just a few small pinky-grey clouds drifting by. my m.e has settled down somewhat and i am wondering if it has calmed down enough for me to walk back up to the old church to leave my poppy, which is at the moment on my photo of johney, onto one of the commonwealth war graves.

i have had so many comments from you all about my boots~i never realised they would generate quite so many...
yes they are very green!
i had deliberated for the many months it took to save for them about the color as there was a good 15 to choose from, i kept jumping between green, purple, chocolate and olive but the green ones were the first ones i saw when i visited the website and just fell in love with them.
swampy's comment when i unpacked them last week was 'they are greener than i thought' while spooky's was a more obscure 'they are ipod apples'...

not surprisingly, given my paganism, obsession with trees and the green man and nature in general i love the color green and always have and this year spooky and i are, given our obsessions with music, buying each other an ipod nano, mine of course will be green!

well time to stop here and plan my day~i have had to shift my studies up a gear yet again on discovering a fourth surprise assignment that has to be in by mid january~so between now and the end of january i have three assigments to be done by the end of january, making allowances for yule, a new year camp/party, new york (we will be there the day after Obama's inauguration!) and days missed when my m.e becomes too much. ideally i would like to get it all done before we go away which is why i am trying to get ahead of myself...

watch this space!

Hope your feeling better today Lee. Wasn't that weather awful yesterday, I thought our carport roof was gonna take off, just like dorothys house. I love to snuggle in my jammies and watch old films, my favourite doris day has to be calamity jane. You do realise I'm going to be singing windy city all day now :o)

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
