The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

Hopi Prophecy

~a few days~

i had the optician yesterday which you can read about here~all i will say is bifocals!

~*~*~*~

yesterday was a bright cold day here in this ancient forest and tea and toast and a bit of crochet while i caught up with a couple of episodes of Ballykissangel were just what the doctor ordered
~i think i have watched all of Ballykissangel a good three times over by now and always wonder if my Gaul and Byrne ancestors who were from and around Ballykeoghan in Kilkenny were as eccentric as some of the characters~i hope so.

~*~*~*

in late afternoon i decided to join swampy and flynt on a walk at Whitefield Moor which is a mile or two from home and home to a neolithic/bronze age bowl barrow.
we go here often and it is close to the walk we take that have appeared here recently in pictures.
i am kicking myself that i did not have the camera with me for the views were amazing.
to the left and slightly below our walk runs ober water with marshy ground to one side of it~as we walked along slowly a mist started to form, following the line of the marsh and was the most amazing sight~we are now waiting for another frosty, clear day when we can hopefully photograph the mist.

~*~*~*~

i didn't get around to posting this yesterday. i ended up helping swampy with bits and bobs.

this morning we drove across the forest through the rain.
but our good spirits were destroyed by the sight of a poor dead forest pony at the side of the road~another poor victim of a careless driver who no doubt thinks that they and their destination more important that the true residents of this ancient forest.
all i can say is i hope they get what is coming to them and the poor pony did not suffer.

its been a cold, wet, windy and bitterly cold day today. we did our shopping quickly and hurried home through the driving rain with 'pretty pagan' being hit with strong gusts of wind.

the cold and damp make my m.e and fibro worse so i remained home while swampy took flynt out for his last walk and instead gave my hair its yule trim!

yes i trim my own hair~i think i blogged about it once, earlier this year.
i am afraid i take little~no, i take no heed of hairdressers warning about damaging hair, needing a professional hair cut etc.
to be honest my hair is a lot like Hermione Granger's~a combination of wavy and curly with a fondness for being bushy

who remembers this?

crystal tipps and alistair

sometimes swampy calls me crystal tipps when my hair is feeling particularly wild, so really my hair looks the same whether it has been given a professional cut or a trim of my own imagining. actually i have to say that looking in the mirror earlier i was happier at how it looks than i ever have after coming home from a hairdressers (i do apologise if there are any hairdressers out there!)

well time to think about some dinner...hope you all have had a good day!

What an interesting blog. Do you have connection to Ireland? Sorry if this is clear and I missed that.;)
I love Ireland and that country will always hold a very special place in my heart...
Thank you so much for your kind visit and comment, sorry it took me a while to return the favour.;)
xoxoxo

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
