There's a worm at the bottom of the garden
And all that he can do
Is wiggle all night
And wiggle all day
Whatever else the people do say
There's a worm at the bottom of the garden
And his name is Wiggly Woo
that tune is going through my head...its what we sometimes call flynt when he is extra excited and wiggly.
its going to be a quiet weekend here in the new forest~i woke at some point friday night with a blinding headache so was bumbling about in the kitchen for my prescription painkillers topped up with paracetamol.
it was still dark when flynt...
decided he had to go into the garden and i had to mumble to swampy to please let him out, my head hurt too much~like a star he did and then fell asleep on the sofa so he wouldn't disturb me.
i woke after ten with my head still pounding so swampy brought me a mug of sweet coffee (i know its not a good way to deal with headaches but it works for me when lavender and tiger balm cannot!) and i sat there watching the birds in the garden.
i ended up staying on the sofa and watching star wars-attack of the clones.
this morning i am brighter, the headache a small nag, not even worth taking tablets for and looking out of the window it is grey and windy...again...actually the sky is a weird red/grey/dark grey which looks a bit ominous.
i have little plans for today apart from reading and crochet.
these are the books i received as yule gifts~i have poured over each of course~who can resist looking through and even smelling books when they come into your possession?!~but am reading properly Francis Pryor's Britain BC. its a fantastic read only hampered by my memory which means i keep having to turn back the pages to remind myself of something.
and what about that copy of Cranford swampy gave me?!
its beautiful, hardback with a cloth cover that feels so wonderful.
the book at the top is Travellers Joy by Beshlie Heron who leads a travelling life and little is known of her~i also have Snailsleap Lane~both sent to me and treasured by my friend Luna.
~*~*~*~
i was out and about a couple of times last week and on one of the flynt walking trips i finally tracked down one of the bronze age round barrows near our little home.
you can just make out the inner ditch~a clear section of grass seen between the gorse~and outer ring from these photos.
my plan now is to visit the rare disc barrows nearby.
last week was also a good week for finding hag stones...
and creating...
drinking very special hot chocolate...
and pondering...

Glad you are feeling a bit brighter this morning! Lovely pic of Flynt - it's so funny the way springer's wiggle their bums isn't it?! Chester is asleep on my feet as I type this!! Enjoy your day x
hag stones - you know, I have never seen one here at our beaches or anywhere else. I am lucky enough to have a couple though :)
your days sounds just delightful.. full of nurturing bits, so good for you.
have you ever tried homeopathics for your headaches ?
I hope that niggling headache melts away soon... each small task is a test; as your recovery time improves you will do more each day( I tell myself, as I too, recover ). I am lucky, I have sunshine to aid me AND a hummingbird moth bumbling about at the window which I shall let out side now - You have reminded me about the existance of chocolate - Mmmm !
Laoi, hope youre feeling better by now, I suffer headaches too, and they really make you feel low. Love your christmas books, i have three of those here! Your beaded necklace is lovely too, gentle tones, just the sort of thing i wear. I think we are very similiar in our choices in things, i too have many holey hagstones, remind me to post a pic at some point please!
Leanne x
I have a few of the Beshlie books also. Did you know her husband wrote a couple of books about their travelling life?
His name is Dominic Reeve books are smoke in the lanes, and beneath the blue sky. Both very interesting to read
I remember seeing a fab TV programme about Beshlie Heron and her husband many years back and was fascinated by their life. I'm so glad you mentioned her.
SOunds like a wonderful selection of books.
I, too, enjoyed Britain BC; I only wish I had seen the series.
