The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

Hopi Prophecy

~what a difference a day makes~

today it has been pouring down with rain~and i mean pouring.
it started sometime in the night, i could hear it drumming on our little greenhouse during the brief moment i didn't have my earphones plugged in my ear (last night was another night of insomnia).

so instead of pictures of our rain sodden garden i shall take you on yesterdays walk...

this is a corner of ober heath~bronze age round barrow i have put here before is off to the left

we decided to venture down a different track this time~following some other walkers

we followed a track edged with pine and small streams

and into the woods...

then we followed a muddy track out of the woods towards a small house

and found this...

then into woods and again crossed a stream~the one we crossed earlier

it was a lovely walk and i was so glad that i went out~even more so when i heard the rain this morning and then swampy informed me that the forecast for the coming days was more rain.

*~*~*~*

before the rain started we were able to get into the garden...

measuring in the garden

we have, as i mentioned a few posts ago, decided to re-jig our garden as for some reason~and i think its something more than flynt producing napalm wee~the grass in the lower part of the garden refuses to grow.
well it grew and then just started to die leaving ever increasing bare patches...as you can see in the photo.

so we have been out measuring for our raised beds and contemplating the position of the wildlife pond~we now need some dry weather.

before i go can i just direct you to my light switch in the corner of the screen...

yes we are coming up to earth hour 2011  ~ i hope you have made your virtual lantern!

Beautiful pics, it's good to get out there isn't it? we had a very muddy trudge through the woods and fields yesterday.

A lovely walk, I like the photos of the tree roots - when I see the tangle of roots beneath an old tree like that it always reminds me of Lord Of The Rings.

Beautiful photos. I keep forgetting how gorgeous the ancient Forest is.

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
