The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

Hopi Prophecy

~genius loci?~

i was sitting up on my 'sky deck' the other day, shielded from swampy who was laying the turf at the bottom.
i needed to read in my druid animal oracle about the horse as a 'funny-odd' happened.

i have had the goddess come up a lot in readings recently and yesterday calv and i were talking about the land our houses were built on in the early 70's.
when we were both small we remember a stables being here and from looking back at old maps online there was never anything here until the stables were built.

when i was small i remember an old barn standing at the top of the hill from where our house now stands, just a couple of minutes walk away. this was the early 1970's and we would walk by it on our way home from school and sometimes creep in there...by then it was no longer a working stable and i remember the barn, empty of ponies but as if they had just walked out.
the houses around us are all circa 1920 so it is easy to work out the boundary of what was once open field-an odd shaped oblong piece of land.

under our garden path, about two foot down we discovered part of an old wall-we could never figure out if it was part of a wall of a house or a garden wall and i can only assume it was something to do with the house of the stables owners.

so i am rambling a bit here...anyway, yes, the goddess-not a particular goddess has been coming up in my readings just the all encompassing mother earth figure.

last week i also took out the pictures from my 2012 Wendy Andrew calendar so that i can change the picture each month-may was Rhiannon horse maiden

then i was hoeing over the soil in the bottom of the garden ready to lay the new turf when i saw what i thought to be an interesting coloured stone, after brushing off the soil it turned out to be the tooth of a horse (photo to follow!.
i initially thought that finding a horse tooth was not odd in itself, this being the new forest and the land once being a stables. the odd thing is we have dug over that area of land at least four times since living here but it surfaces now when i keep having horse/goddess links.

i plan on doing some reading and a pathworking/visualisation on this-i am having the idea that maybe i have been directed to what could be the genius loci of this place...

Just catching up with bloggerville, so have read all of your latest posts at once :)

I'm really interested to hear what you come up with, please post about it! Sadly, I've not been working with my cards and I must do more! I am a 'newbie' with them and will never make progress if I don't use them :(

I just wanted to say Lee, that from photos it seems as if your garden is long and narrow, yes? Just wanted to compliment you on how you've utilized the space in making different areas, not easily done in a small space! Really looks lovely and inviting :)
