The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

~long & hard winter~

my but its been a long hard winter
i have had a lot of flare ups with my bruxism and fibro and my body is coming to terms with the osteo arthritis.
so i have spent many days just sitting on the sofa or sitting in bed.
mostly reading or journalling

i have had no inspiration for anything at all.

just literally nothing

i am slowly coming out of it now, my room has been tided up and the clear desk is giving me some inclination to sit and create.

i think the full moon energies helped and i did a reading with the wild unknown tarot while snuggled up in bed. it was cloudy here and so we could not see her but i certainly was buzzing with life

we have had some gloriously frosty mornings here in this ancient forest

i love getting out in the garden early on frosty mornings, listening to the crows chattering away in the oak.

we have had a bit of excitement here with the grounding of the hoegh osaka between southampton water and the isle of wight.
we we drove down to calshot which is about a half hour drive from us and it was so busy~like a hot summers day~with people going down to see it

we took flynt and had a lovely walk along the beach hunting down fossils and hag stones

i have been moving music onto my ipod...

watching Vikings again before season three starts in march...

and loving this...

leveret has been sulking because we moved the sofa and armchair and so chose to sleep on my boots

and loving the new earth pathways diary

*swoon*

apologies for the slightly unnecessary

swoonage

in this post~some of you might understand, some of you may think what???

if you have been reading this blog back from 2007 you will know i am a huge Seth Lakeman fan...link is for anyone who has been living on the moon!

i have seen him live...lots...really, lots...one year i saw him in Southampton one night and then in exeter the following night, a journey that covered three counties and about 250 miles...so worth it!

anyway back in October we saw he was playing at the brook in southampton for the current tour and swampy finally said he would go with me (swampy is into big hair rock...you should see our cd collection) so we ordered two tickets and have been eagerly waiting all these months.

so off we set last Thursday evening, waited in line for over half an hour, i like to be at concerts early so i can rush to the front.
we went in at 8pm and it took us seconds to get the centre front of the stage...the brook is small...tiny with only a 600 person capacity. it has the main floor with bar and small stage and an upper level with a bar, a small amount of tables and chairs and some standing room...which makes for a very intimate venue.

the support band were a fairly local folk group the moulettes who were absolutely fantastic (cute drummer in a jumper that could have belonged to a granddad and inspirational singer worthy of a grrl-crush) and at the end of the evening while about to choose one of their cd's ('the bears revenge'...go buy it!) i was lucky enough to meet Hannah the singer/songwriter/cellist/guitar and the fiddle player Georgina.

Seth and the band were, as ever, fantastic and the time went far too quickly, but i did come away with the set list that had been taped to the stage in front of me (so we had a sneaky pre gig idea of what was going to be played)
the utter highlight for me (*swoon* alert) was when Seth crouched down about 2 foot from me while playing his fiddle and gave me a beaming smile...after 6years i got my own smile...swampy did admit after that he turned to see the expression on my face and in his words 'it was a picture'

so there you go~a fine bit of excitement and i have been listening the 'the bears revenge' every day since and will be buying the rest of the cd's very soon...and a tea towel...they are so cute!

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
