rise and root

The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

"When birds fall from the sky and the animals are dying, a new tribe of people...shall come unto the earth from many colors, classes, creeds, who by their actions and deeds shall make the earth green again. they will be known as the warriors of the Rainbow"

Hopi Prophecy

Dia dhuit

from a wild and wet dorset.

so the post yule family gathering is over and here in dorset it is time to get back to normality, or as normal as our life here in the wilds can be when the main event is to walk across fields and among the hedgerow and fetch in wood for the rayburn and enjoy the warmth of a fire.

of course my other normality these days is my degree. my second marked essay came back and i scored another C, only two marks away from a B!
now i am spending the next few days reading through and amending my essay on the French Revolution and at the same time continue my reading on art history and philosophy based around the works of Rousseau...due in by the 25th so a lot of hard work is due in the coming weeks.
as you know in the few months before yule i was at a bit of a crossroads and allowing other things to take my attention and i have resolved to devote time each day to the spiritual side of my life~even if it is only a small thing such as meditation on an a ogham card or divination or journaling.
i have been putting thoughts to developing my spiritual garden in the spring, i had a book by Glennie Kindred from my mum 'Sacred Celebrations' (her 'Earth wisdom' and 'Herbal Healers' are very good) and it has given me ideas for both my front garden and back yard.
well my friends, time to get my books out for a few hours and enjoy a cup of new tea i bought today~white tea with pomegranate~highly recommended

Well done on the grade, it's hard work doing a degree by distance learning when you have to keep yourself on track. At least you have lovely quiet surroundings to inspire you. I have Glennie Kindred's books as well - I love all the essays she writes on trees.
