The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

~feeling more alive~

cody was very mystified by the regular, mysterious puffs of steam coming from the bottom of the field!

an early morning shot~swampys daughter louise was camped in the tent, her first proper camping trip and she was so brave!

golly its taken me a few days to get over my cold equinox and the long drive, i am now feeling not too bad so thought i would pop in and reply to some comments!

i have to say we have never camped in such cold conditions but there was something special about waking up, peeking out of the window and seeing snow and one morning we woke and our curtains were frozen to the window!

i think we can class ourselves as all-weather campers for sure!

the north yorkshire moors steam railway ran along the bottom of our field so twice an hour we had a steam train chugging by~the most amazing site. we went down to the station a few times to get photos and to stand a foot away from an old, but working, steam engine is amazing.

we have decided to buy ourselves a three season sleeping bag each however~and luckily they had a sale on in millets and we were able to buy two 'mummy' bags' for £40~typically a week late, but we have them now!~as a new years camp has been suggested i really think we will need them!

cody loved the snow, he did try to eat some snow and was busy digging up icy patches, it was so cold we did let him sleep up on the bed with us for some extra warmth! a couple of mornings he was shivering bless him. but he did meet a new friend, a boarder terrier puppy called skipper who was very cute, his old friend a black lab called smudge and his best human friend sally who brought him a new 'springer' bandana!
however cold it was i did have the most amazing feeling of connection to the elements being in such a wild spot, the grassy earth, the gales, the warmth of the sun when it occaisionally came out, the clear, cold bubbling streams and rivers and the full moon. i felt really blessed to be out experiencing this weather at such close quarters

I'm glad both of you and cody enjoyed yourself, your much braver than us. My first Beltane camp in the new forest was bloomin cold and I put it down to my first near death experience. I bet Woody would have insisted on being in the bed with us, proberly slobbering on the pillows. Skipper looks cute, Woody's girlfriends a border terrier. Louise is very brave I bet that tent was freezing.

Cold but happy! Sounds and looks like a good camping trip out in the nature. I remember one night not having put the tent top cover on to watch the sky through the moskito gaze before falling asleep. Slept that night with my glasses on!

last weekend, we went to our "Gypsy Caravan" and at night, I could lie in bed, looking out at the storm.. lightning flashing.. it was amazing and the next night starry skies... even though I was 'inside'... I felt very adventurous and it was cold although it didn't snow... soon, I hope to sit beside the water at night looking at the stars and connecting... i feel so disconnected right now.. time to get back I think... must chat about this soon xoxo
love you lots!

I'm glad you had an enjoyable time, Cody's little friend looks nice and snug wrapped in that throw. Steam trains are great aren't they? I'm old enough to remember when all the trains were steam trains and seeing one now takes me straight back to my childhood and the overnight trips down to Devon for our summer holiday.
