*the light of summer*
*litha*
*the summer solstice*
has the great wheel really turned that fast?
the sun is nearly at its maximum peak of the year and we are coming to the longest day and shortest night and of course the nights will slowly draw in darker as the days pass as we work our way through the waning of the year and the holly king takes the mantel from the oak king~the sun god dies to await his re-birth at the winter solstice.
our ancestors saw life coming from the sun, it gave them life, supported them and fed them and at this time every growing thing is at it height, as full as life as it can possibly be.
bearing that in mind then, the solstice is the best time to gather your herbs and keep an eye out for the green man watching you through the leaves...

today is more like autumn or winter, with heavy showers between the odd patch of blue sky, so it is a day for reading and crochet
*have a good day*

Just two days ago I got aware how far in the north-west the sund goes down right now, and how high up she still was at around 8pm! I love this time of the year when everything is so green and growing like mad!
Definitely not the greatest weather for Summer Solstice! I hope it will improve by the 21st but I suspect I may be disappointed! Enjoy your autumnal pastimes:)
its very cold here again, I am on the point of lighting the fire even though its almost the summer solstice! I will shortly be heading for the sofa and some crafts!
