oh my but it is chilly here in this ancient forest
winter has been a long time in coming but it is well and truly here~in time for the solstice next week.
two weeks ago we had our village christmas evening and it was lovely we all gathered for the turning on of the lights~all the shops were open giving out mince pies and mulled wine, morris dancers performed, donkeys were collecting for the donkey sanctuary and a pony was giving sleigh rides and collecting to send gifts out to soldiers away from home and top of the evening was the village firemen rescuing santa from a rooftop.

here in our little hobbit hole we have our little tree in our front window and mantel decorated...with robyns green santa taking pride of place as usual!

we had to have an unexpected trip to the minor injuries unit in lymington the other day~flynt had become a little over excited and jumped for a stick-unfortunately he caught swampys had and not the stick resulting in a gash down to the muscle...ouch.
it is healing nicely and he has to see the nurse every few days to have it checked and dressed...but he is not able to drive and it meant we could not get into southampton to see seth lakeman play last night (trying not to think of it...i am distraught).
luckily he is playing close by again in february and march...and i intend to go to both!

well the smell of my stew is calling me into the kitchen so i shall save the news of my adventure with my sister for another day...

How Swampy's hand heals nice and quick! Sure you will get to see Seth soon! I had this too when I got swine flu and I missed seeing Newton Faulkner...
Everything looks very festive. It has gotten cold down here too...
Sorry to hear about Swampy's hand - hope it is soon better. Your village 'do' looks as though it was a lot of fun, how lovely to have the donkey there - hope he collected lots for the sanctuary.

what a perfect, perfect post.. making me yearn for a winter Christmas.. although here - you would think it was autumn and not summer with the cold, misty days [I am in my element!]
the ancient forest sounds like a wonderful community - I really hope I do get to experience some of that when I come over next year.
