The Flame Haired Solstice Dreamer

Cold winter brings the Everfrost and jewels every tree
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
A flame~haired dreamer wanders there and shelters from the wind
And spins her dreams around the trees to break the ties that bind
She takes her thread and spins anew and how the Greenwood smiles
As she spins a spell for freedom and for her spirit Wylde

The dreamer finds an ancient oak and shelters in his lee
In a forest new as birth and old as old can be
Tis summer now and birdsong weaves its magick through her spells
And humming bees drum drowsily in the foxglove's bells
The dreamer sits beneath the oak with yarn upon her knee
And spins and knits and weaves her dreams and sets her spirit free

Hopi Prophecy

~snow & sourdough~

so the predicted snow came in around 5.30 this morning.

i woke and peeked out the window at 5...nothing...at 5.45 heavy snow falling and already everything had a cover of white.

its now 3.10 in the afternoon and it is still snowing, not as hard as it has been but its still snowing...

we were unable to drive out this morning, well to be honest we didn't want to risk it because to get to a main road from our little house means travel in one of two directions, both downhill down small residential roads and i didn't fancy the risk of sliding into a parked car.

so this morning flynt walked closer to home...the open forest that starts five minutes from home...

that meant five minutes on his lead...

 hello!

my ma lives not far down this road but we continued on homeward as by this point we were freezing...

the view from my room...although right now starlings are fighting at the bird feeder you can just see hidden by the curtain...

so its been a bit of a weird day, after our walk we brought mismi and inca into play while swampy cleaned their litter tray...well they had a snack, a short play and then vanished...we found them curled up asleep in the bottom drawer of the wardrobe...so we have left them there!

two days ago i started my first venture into making...growing...a sourdough starter to make my own sourdough bread...

i admit i was quite hopeful...how wrong could it go?
well today it should have been bubbly and lovely and ready for feeding.

it was so dismal i didn't even have the heart to take its photo...it was a weird sludge with no sign of bubbles or yeasty activity so i started again...using a different source of information...

this is the new one, i think my first attempt became cold so this one is living in the airing cupboard with all our towels where he will be toasty warm until he needs feeding.
i shall keep you posted.

as i type it is snowing harder again and i took a shot of the back garden...

i have never seen the snow so deep out there in the time we have lived here.

Your garden looks lovely witha all that snow! Looking forward to your sourdough adventure ;.)

All things share the same breath~the beast, the tree, the man, the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports.
